Isle of Wight Register Office

For the registration of Marriages and Civil Partnerships.

The Isle of Wight Register Office is the district Register Office for the Isle of Wight, a statutory provision to record all life events occurring on the Island. The Registrars can take registrations of marriage/civil partnership/births and deaths as well as performing civil ceremonies/Renewal of Vows Ceremonies and Naming Ceremonies

Currently over 50 premises are licensed to hold civil ceremonies. The registrars can attend a civil ceremony at licensed venues and are fully staffed to offer ‘anytime ceremonies’ i.e. any time prior arranged with the Isle of Wight Register Office at an Approved Premise. The flexibility allows for early morning and later evening ceremonies dependent on the couples needs and the registrars availability.

All enquiries for a civil marriage should be made with the Isle of Wight Register Office to confirm availability, a non-refundable booking fee is payable when provisionally booking a date.

After a provisional booking is made, a couple need to give ‘Notice of Marriage’ at their local register office, this is when legal documentation is shown to declare that both are free to enter into marriage/civil partnership, there is a statutory cost to give notice.

15 days after notice of marriage is given, authorities for marriage or schedule for civil partnership can be issued (subject to legal requirements being met). The couple are then able to legally enter into a civil marriage/partnership.

The Isle of Wight Register Office have experienced and knowledgeable staff to assist you with the legal requirements and help to make your special day memorable.
